At Touriste we love receiving postcards, so we asked our favorite globetrotters to write to us…
We are happy to share this monthly pleasure with you !
From Corsica
A little about myself …
Julie Revuz, Director of communication and marketing of Touriste group.
Mother of Manon (13 years), Aimée (9 years), and Colombe (3 years).
Wife of … As the idiots say. But behind every man …
I am writing to you from …
From Nesa, a hamlet in Vico, Corsica. This is my parent’s house. I also call it my father’s castle. The house is very simple but the garden is huge, a forest of hazel trees, a wonderful playground for my parents and my kids. Our days are devoted to the beach, collecting hazelnuts, playing petanque in the village and drinking margaritas (I don’t like pastis)!
I have been spending my vacations here since I was born, it’s a part of Corsica that’s not often visited, a little wild. I can’t imagine spending my vacations anywhere else than here with my family and friends. I really enjoy the village life in Corsica in summer but my favorite season is Christmas. For figatelli, polenta, sea urchins, bruccio, roast cabri etc…
My Tourist moment …
I often let myself be guided by Adrien, my favorite tourist for over 20 years.
But I always leave with a list of things to see, otherwise I spend my vacations visiting hotels and campings !!!!
My upcoming night at the hotel …
In September! We’re launching the Hotel de la Boétie in Paris’s 8th district…
A good excuse to try out the rooms and being a touriste in Paris.
The travel of my dreams …
I would say travels! Japan with my family, I’m waiting for Colombe to get a bit older and then we can organize it! I would also like to cross the United States in a giant camper van and return to Mexico to become a professional margarita bartender.
In my suitcase …
I’m terrible at packing. I always take too much. It gets better as I get older, but it’s not easy!
My favorite tourist song …
In Corsica, we often make fun of tourists who force themselves to listen to traditional Corsican songs, so I would say Corsica by Petru Gelfucci.
And for a touch of summer vibes, Polo et Pan have just covered Laurent Voulzy’s Le Coeur Grenadine. An absolute must-listen for this summer.
First Travel Memory
I have no idea! So I’m going to tell you about my greatest memory :
Mali. Mopti, Djene, Timbuktu, Dogon country…
I travelled down the Niger river for 10 days on a pinnace with my parents, my sister and a Malian doctor friend. 10 days at the rhythm of the river, the hippos and the wonderful encounters with Malians. The visit to Timbuktu remains a very emotional memory for me.
When I see what is happening in this country today, I have tears in my eyes.
